Candor Homes is a thriving construction company that builds stylish family homes across the Hunter region.

With nine team members working between head office, display homes and client construction sites, their old standard phone system caused more problems than it solved.

‘We could put people on hold and transfer internally within the office, but we couldn’t transfer calls out to display homes or supervisor’s mobiles,’ said General Manager, Emma Jolly.

If a client called, admin staff would take a message and send emails to team members working outside the office.

But it could be hours before the message was received.

‘Sometimes on a building site, you need a fast answer.

If we’ve got trades onsite, they need to know exactly what we need them to do because if they aren’t working, it’s impacting our bottom line,’ explained Emma.

The new VOIP system streamlines communication and protects the personal phone numbers of all employees. Staff can control calls coming through and from the main landline number, and make sure employees don’t get work calls on their mobiles after hours.

Additionally, video calling options are available by installing the Microsoft Teams app on construction supervisor’s phones. Video is especially useful for when supervisors are on-site and need to resolve client questions about layout or finish details. Having the ability to show clients what something looks like via video is often significantly quicker and easier than trying to explain it verbally.

For Emma and her team, the VOIP system is infinitely easier and more user-friendly.

‘No-one’s worried about pushing the wrong button anymore or left wondering if the call would get there or not. Now you can speak to the team member before you transfer to check they are happy and available to take the call’.
